Glass Sculpting & Flameworking Workshops at Flint Institute of Arts

Learn from Erin or Grant at the Flint Institute of Arts June 12-15. Grant will teach glass sculpting in the hotshop and Erin will teach glass florals in the flame shop.

Grant’s Workshop

Explore the potential of working with hot glass as a sculptural medium. This class will focus on using both solid and blown sculpting techniques to create animal-inspired sculptures. Sculptures will be brought to life using a variety of torches and sculpting techniques including solid sculpting, inside sculpting, assembly, color application, garage use, and —most importantly—teamwork! Problem solving will be emphasized and students are encouraged to bring images of inspiration. Includes two hours meal breaks.

Tuition: $550


Erin’s Workshop

Learn to create botanical glass sculptures with borosilicate glass on the torch. Students will learn techniques for constructing leaves, flowers, vines, and other flora. Color application and assembly techniques, including bridging, will be covered. Each day will include demonstration and ample student work time. Includes two hours meal breaks.
